MISSION STATEMENT:

Our Mission is to nourish the body, replenish the spirit, and grow the community so that all might be fed.

Our Vision is to see all of our community members, regardless of their means, dining together and supporting one another in building the strength and health of our community.

One Acre Café is a faith based 501(c)3 non-profit and is located at 603 West Walnut Street in downtown Johnson City, TN. We are open for lunch Monday through Friday from 11 am until 2 pm. The café was established to further address the escalating issues of hunger and food insecurity in our community.

One Acre Cafe utilizes the model provided by the One World Everybody Eats Foundation joining the growing family of more than fifty other community cafes across the country. This progressive model is unique in the Johnson City area and is a great addition to the plans for downtown revitalization.

One Acre Café offers our community healthy and nutritious food with dignity by creating a warm and inviting space for ALL to gather and leave feeling nourished and replenished. There are suggested donations for those who can pay or pay it forward and the ability to volunteer in exchange for a meal for those who cannot. Our café offers a passionate, skilled chef that brings to the table amazing cuisine filled with love and flavor.

In order to reduce costs and eliminate food waste, we offer a choice of plate sizes with suggested donation amounts; small ($5), medium ($7) and large ($9). We compost any remaining food scraps that cannot be utilized. Those who can pay for their meal have the option to “pay it forward” by donating an additional amount. This helps OAC to provide meals for others in our community.

We know times are tough. If you have trouble paying the suggested donation amount, we encourage you to volunteer and save your money for other necessities. We only ask for about an hour of your time to cover your meal.

Everyone is treated with dignity at One Acre Café. People volunteer for many reasons. However, no one knows who is volunteering for a meal and who is here just to help out.

One Acre Café operates with a 95% volunteer staff. Our volunteers are integral to running the day to day operations of One Acre Café. Whether you are volunteering for your meal or simply giving your time, it is the “coming together” of community that creates the heart of the café.
